Red grape variety recommended in several regions in Portugal. It is grown in the Centre and North of the country, except in the Vinhos Verdes region. It has thin skin and is sensitive to high temperatures. It produces wines with good acidity, whose colour depends on the region where they are produced and the way the grapes are handled; its aromas can be surprisingly rich and complex.
Name given to Pinot Gris in Romania and German-speaking countries.
Said of an honest wine, but with no subtlety. It is usually alcoholic, tannic and of a common variety.
