The evolution of Portuguese vine and wines is statistically analysed by the Instituto da Vinha e do Vinho (IVV [free translation: Vine and Wine Institute]) and also by regional entities that regulate wine production.

The statistical data on wine production, export, import and consumption provide clues to understand the evolution of the Portuguese wine sector. Moreover, they also allow to evaluate the markets in which Portuguese wine has greater or lesser importance.
