Diseases Pests
Eutypiosis

Eutypiosis is a disease caused by ascospores that develop in dead branches/wood. It is a very destructive disease that easily spreads through the (usually adult or old) vines.
Precipitation helps activate the ascospores and the wind transports them to distances that can reach 60km. The ascospores enter the grapevine through pruning wounds.

Primary symptoms (places where the fungus is present):

- Trunk or branches affected by a sectorial necrosis that is light brown, hard and has the form of a wedge (the branch breaks easily)

Secondary symptoms (places where the fungus is not present):

- Small growth shoots and short internodes

- Small deformed leaves with necroses along the margins, which cause fissures. In the most serious cases, the leaves dry and drop

- Broom-like vegetation

Cultural control:

- Perform pruning later and under dry weather conditions, without wind
- Avoid major cuts
- Perform desuckering

Chemical control:

- Disinfection of pruning wounds with flusilazole carbendazim + flusilazole
- Use pruning scissors with the injection of the product
