Characteristics Rupestris du Lot is a very vigorous rootstock and has a long vegetative cycle. It is appropriate for grape varieties producing ordinary wines and for late table grapes. On the other hand, it is inappropriate for grape varieties sensitive to blossom drop. Because of its great vigour it sometimes happens that, a year after its plantation, it is too thick to be grafted. It has a good response to rooting, hand grafting and local grafting. Bears up to 14% active limestone. Rupestris du Lot is sensitive to the gall form of phylloxera and also to the Meloidogynae type of nematodes. It is advisable to use this rootstock in poor, gravel soils, loose or compact, dry on the surface but moist below.
