Description This grape variety used to be important in the production of Port Wine. It has low levels of acidity and a lot of sugar.

Synonymy: Bastardinho and Água Santa.

Budding medium.
Young Branch End open, white with a light carmine border, webbed villosity.
Young leaf copper coloured. Webbed villosity.
Flower androgynous.
Vigour soft to medium.
Bearing semi-erect.
Shoots red striations on the back and a green front. Webbed villosity.
Tendrils regular discontinuous distribution, medium size.
Adult leaf small to medium, pentagonal, with five lobes. Green upper side, poor swelling. Convex, short teeth, as wide as they are long. Closed petiolar sinus with a U-shaped base. Open upper lateral petiolar sinuses with a U-shaped base. Low anthocyanin pigmentation. Webbed villosity. Petiole shorter than the medium main vein. Webbed villosity.
Bunch small to medium. Loose to medium compactness. Peduncle of medium length and lignification.
Berry small to medium in size. Short, elliptic shape. Dark blue, medial bloom, the epidermis being slightly thick. Colourless, soft and juicy pulp. Medium-length pedicel which can easily be separated.
Seeds absent.
Stalks circular section, striated surface. Brown with some light red tones. Webbed villosity.
